In this concert, Zhang Chongxue, Concertmaster of the HKCO, will give a compelling performance with her solo erhu and gaohu renditions of The Great Wall Capriccio, Rhapsody for Erhu No. 2 and The Butterfly Lovers. The last was recently heard at the Hong Kong Week 2021@Guangzhou concert, with a musical retelling of the story of the star-crossed lovers captivating the hearts of the audience there. The renowned music critic, Oliver Chou, described her consummate musicianship in the South China Morning Post as “navigating through its roller coaster-like emotions on the two-string fiddle with aplomb”. The concert promises to be a musical feast, so don’t miss it!
