2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of Peng Xiuwen, a towering figure in modern Chinese orchestral music. On this occasion, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra pays tribute showcasing Peng’s original compositions and timeless arrangements, recapturing the grandeur of his works and honouring his enduring legacy.


Peng was a trailblazer of 20th-century Chinese music whose output not only laid the artistic foundation for the modern Chinese orchestra but also propelled it onto the international stage. A fellow artist who shared a deep bond and respect for Peng, Yan Huichang leads the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra with guest musicians from China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra in this concert.
