The joint orchestra of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the Hong Kong Young Chinese Orchestra

In 2003, to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra organized a global selection of ‘Golden Chinese Classics of the Century’ together with RTHK,eight major orchestras from the Mainland, Taiwan and Singapore, and music fans from all over the world. The result was an honour roll of ‘The Most Popular Chinese Musical Works of the 20th Century’. As a revival, Rupert Woo Pak Tuen, runner-up in the Second International Conducting Competition for Chinese Music, will lead the HKCO, Hong Kong Young Chinese Orchestra and Huang Xiaoqing, first-prize winner of the Erhu Section in the 26th Taipei Chinese Instrumental Competition, to present to the audience today those first shortlisted works.
