Die Dang Jiu (né Pan Xingzhou) is the Cultural Bearer of Miao music in China, dubbed the ‘Miao Singing King’. He graduated from the Guizhou University studying Music Education.
He won the Bronze Award – Indigenous Music Section in the 14th CCTV All China Young Singers Awards in 2010, and went on to win the CCTV Avenue of Stars champion title in 2011. Between 2011 and 2012, he participated in The X Factor: Ji Qing Chang Xiang, the Chinese franchise of the international reality talent show, and won second place in the national finals. In 2012, he won the Gold Award at the 6th China Folk Song Contest hosted by the Ministry of Culture, the People's Government of Hubei Province, and organized by Hubei TV.
In 2014, Die Dang Jiu won the title the ‘Miao Singing King’ after winning the championship in the second season of CCTV's Exotic and Dazzling - Top Singer Challenge for Ethnic Minority Groups Competition. He again walked away with the championship plus the title as ‘King of Top Ten Mountain Songs’ at the All China King of Mountain Songs Competition in Hunan in 2016. In its following sessions in 2017, he won the regional title of the Eastern Division and went on to win the Overall Championship in the national finals. In the 2018 CCTV Spring Festival Gala show, his performance of Holding Singing Dialogues Till the Sun Sets from his new album came third in audience ratings across all Spring Festival programmes on CCTV.
Die Dang Jiu has two nationwide releases to date, featuring a mix of Miao and popular music which have won popular and critical acclaim not only in Guizhou but other parts of China.
