Keith Yeung developed a passion for the performing arts at a young age, and is currently receiving training in erhu under Zhang Chongxue, Concertmaster of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and in violin under Leung Kin-fung, First Associate Concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Yeung started training in Cantonese Opera when he was five and was soon making appearances on stage, followed by performances in Macao, the US and Canada. He was a prizewinner in many competitions of the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, and was featured in the cover story of a magazine on Chinese traditional theatre. He was the youngest winner in the Youth Arts Festival’s Rising Stars in Youth Arts Awards in 2009, having won the Silver Award. He started learning the erhu at the age of eight, then passed the accreditation for Performance Level by the Central Conservatory of Music. He also won first place in the Chinese Instrumental Class – Advanced for Erhu Solo at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. His concert stage experience included twice performing with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. Other than the erhu, Keith also received training in the violin since he was ten, and later passed the Dip. ABRSM for Performance. Two years ago, he started his training in Cantonese music under Professor Yu Qiwei, a National Class One Performer from China. Before that, he was already taking lessons in Cantonese Opera accompaniment from Master Tsang Kin-man, an ensemble leader. Yeung is currently studying at the Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School, and was the former Concertmaster of the School Chinese Orchestra and School Symphony Orchestra.
