Wang Zhixin

Wang Zhixin is a National Class One Performer of the China National Opera & Dance Theater, Head of the Arts in Practice Centre, professor, and supervisor on the Master’s degree programme of the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, and an Outstanding Performer at National Level. He was trained under the nationally renowned pedagogue, Professor Liu Hui.


Wang has won numerous awards and prizes with his singing and performances. They include the first prize in the 3rd All China Ethnic Singing Competition for Tertiary Arts Institutes – Teachers’ Section; the third prize in the Ethnic Section and the Audience’s Choice Award at the 7th National Vocal Competition, organized by the Ministry of Culture of China; an Outstanding Award – Ethnic Section at the 7th and 8th Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music; an Outstanding Award in Ethnic Vocal Techniques at the 13th CCTV All China Young Singers Television Grand Prix; the Most Popular Award on the China Folk Song Chart of China National Radio; and an Outstanding Performance Award in the Oriental Melody International Music Festival in Uzbekista. His dramatic roles on the musical stage included the lead role of Balhoudai in the spectacular opera production, The Swan, presented by the Ministry of Culture, and another lead role as Lao Li Tou in the modern Chinese opera, The Spark, which was under the Rolling Grant Scheme of the China National Arts Fund. He won the Performance Award in Outstanding Repertories of the Ministry of Culture with his performance in many song-and-dance productions of the China National Opera & Dance Theater such as The Heart in the Four Seasons, Facets of the Five Continents and the Auspicious Clouds Immersed in the Purple Cloud.  Other than these, Wang was selected to join the ‘Outstanding Young Scholars in Tertiary Institutes Enhancement Scheme’; he was also a member of the Innovation Team of Tertiary Institutes of Liaoning. As an outstanding pedagogue, he has groomed many students to become award winners at provincial and city levels.
